  • Paramount Gold expects Grassy Mountain draft EIS in early August

    Fri July 11 2025

NYSE American-listed Paramount Gold Nevada is moving closer to securing federal approval for its Grassy Mountain gold project in Oregon, after the US Bureau of Land Management (BLM) confirmed it plans to publish the project’s draft environmental impact statement (EIS) in early August.

The timeline update follows recent reforms to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), streamlining federal permitting for critical mineral projects. A final EIS and record of decision (ROD) are now expected by December , assuming the process proceeds as outlined. An updated permitting schedule will be made available on the BLM’s e-planning portal and the federal FAST-41 dashboard.

The Grassy Mountain project, located in Malheur county, is among the mineral developments receiving priority under the FAST-41 programme – a federal initiative designed to expedite infrastructure and mining approvals through increased transparency and coordinated review.

“From the time that Grassy Mountain was added to the federal government’s FAST-41 transparency list we have received tremendous support from the dedicated and talented individuals at the BLM in Oregon who have helped facilitate the accelerated pathway for the EIS, all while maintaining their standards of environmental review and oversight,” said Paramount CEO and director Rachel Goldman.

Grassy Mountain is Paramount’s flagship project and includes a gold/silver deposit on private and BLM land. A completed feasibility study has shown positive economics for the development, which is entirely located on private land. The mine will produce about 47 000 oz/y of gold and 55 000 oz/y of silver over an initial eight-year mine life.

Paramount also controls the Sleeper Gold Project in northern Nevada—home to the former Sleeper mine—and the drill-ready Bald Peak project, also in Nevada.
