The International Gem & Jewellery Show (IGJS) Jaipur, organised by GJEPC, unfolded its 3rd edition from 12th to 14th April in the pink city, heralding a convergence of the finest talents in the gem and jewellery industry.

Against the backdrop of the vibrant city of Jaipur, renowned for its rich cultural heritage and historical significance in gemstone trading, IGJS Jaipur emerged as a beacon of innovation and excellence in the global jewellery landscape.

Abhishek Sand, Partner at Savio Jewellery, expressed his satisfaction with the evolving quality of customers attending IGJS. Notably, there was a discernible increase in the presence of US customers, with representatives from chain stores making notable appearances. This influx of international buyers underscores the growing allure of IGJS as a premier destination for sourcing exquisite gemstones and jewellery. Moreover, the presence of South American customers from Brazil and Egypt added a multicultural dimension to the event, further enriching the exchange of ideas and business opportunities.

The feedback from buyers echoed Sand’s sentiments, emphasising the enhanced quality of exhibitors and the diverse range of offerings on display. From traditional to contemporary designs, IGJS showcased a kaleidoscope of styles, catering to the discerning tastes of a global clientele. The export-oriented nature of exhibitors further underscored Jaipur’s emerging status as a hub for international trade in gemstones and jewellery.

A key highlight of IGJS was the exhibitors’ astute understanding of market trends and consumer preferences. Participants like Savio Jewellery seized the opportunity to tailor their product lines specifically to the demands of the show, resulting in a resounding success in showcasing their collections. This adaptive approach reflects the Indian industry’s agility in responding to evolving market dynamics, ensuring relevance and competitiveness in a rapidly changing landscape.

The emphasis on gemstone jewellery at IGJS aligns with the global trend towards natural, ethically sourced materials. Jaipur’s reputation as a leading manufacturing hub of colour gemstones has attracted attention from buyers worldwide. The synergy between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design sensibilities was palpable at the event, reaffirming Jaipur’s position as a global leader in the gem and jewellery industry.

Kartik Mehta, COO of Asian Star, shed light on the industry’s ongoing exploration of innovative materials and design techniques. The shift towards fusion jewellery, incorporating unconventional elements like ceramic alongside traditional metals like gold, has captured the imagination of designers and consumers alike. This fusion of old and new, of tradition and innovation, encapsulates the spirit of IGJS and the broader evolution of the industry.

He said unlike conventional materials like enamel, ceramic offers greater durability and versatility in design, making it an attractive choice for both designers and consumers. The incorporation of natural diamonds alongside trending gemstones reflects a strategic approach to product development, balancing timeless elegance with contemporary flair.

Krishna Behari Goyal of Dwarka Gems raised important points regarding the need for quality assessment and global promotion of IGJS. Goyal advocated for a reassessment of buyer quality, suggesting the implementation of filtration measures based on exhibitor feedback. This targeted approach aims to enhance the overall quality of attendees, ensuring meaningful interactions and business opportunities for exhibitors.

Furthermore, Goyal emphasised the importance of global promotion to attract buyers from a wider range of countries. By positioning IGJS as a premier destination for gem and jewellery trade, the organisers can create a buzz that transcends geographical boundaries, encouraging greater participation and collaboration on an international scale.

Ashutosh Patel, Business Manager for the US market at KGK Creations, offered valuable insights into targeting the right audience for success at IGJS. Patel stressed the importance of attracting serious potential buyers, including regional chains with 5-6 stores, especially from the US. This strategic approach, coupled with effective promotion by organisers such as GJEPC, can enhance the value proposition of the event for exhibitors and attendees alike.
