"There are no problems with foreign currency in the country," National Bank's International Cooperation and Communications Department Vice Chief Ilichbek Sultankulov told a press conference in Bishkek on August 29.

He said the National Bank has made 11 foreign exchange interventions for $536.8 million this year.

The National Bank is buying and selling foreign currency depending upon the situation at forex market, National Bank's Monetary Department Chief Azat Kozubekov said.

The National Bank only purchased foreign currency this year. There are no problems with access to any foreign currencies this year. Trade is carried out freely in cash and cashless form, he said.

International reserves should be taken into account during consideration of forex operations, he added.

"The international reserves make $2.512 billion. The assets of the National Bank also include gold. Gross gold in assets of the National Bank made 49.8 tons of gold as of July 31," he concluded.
