Tue Oct 06 2026
Gold prices are set to rise to $5,013 per ounce in the next year, while silver is expected to jump from $61 to $97 per ounce. LBMA delegates also forecast platinum at $1,914 an ounce and palladium at $1,415. The outlook comes amid concerns over interest rates and continuing geopolitical tensions.
The price of gold is expected to hit $5,013 a troy ounce over the next 12 months, up from the current level of $4,170, according to delegates attending the London Bullion Market Association's (LBMA) annual gathering in Sorrento, Italy.
Gold is down 3% so far this year due to expectations that interest rates will remain higher for longer amid the Iran war. It jumped 64% in 2025, its biggest yearly rise since 1979, and reached a record high of $5,595 an ounce in January.
A year ago, delegates at the same conference had expected gold to be around $4,980 by this point.
A poll of delegates from around the world at the LBMA conference also predicted that silver prices would rise to $97 per ounce in one year's time, from around $61 on Tuesday.
Silver has fallen 14% so far this year, after rallying 147% in 2025.
Results from the LBMA's annual poll, presented to delegates at the conference, also showed forecasts for platinum to rise to $1,914 an ounce from $1,706, while palladium is expected to rise to $1,415 from around $1,174.
Platinum and palladium are down 17% and 28%, respectively, so far this year.
