Kyrgyzstan is preparing a large-scale package of measures to develop the jewelry industry, including tax breaks, simplified access to gold, and increased oversight. This was announced by Kubanychbek Ysabekov, Deputy Chairman of the Tax Service, in an interview with local media.

According to him, in August of this year, the country reduced the single tax rate for the jewelry industry to 0.25%, similar to the clothing industry. This is the minimum tax rate.Furthermore, the presidential decree provides for the legalization of inventory balances for a period of two months. Entrepreneurs will be able to declare their remaining goods without penalties and pay taxes only upon their sale.

One of the key decisions will be to simplify access to gold for domestic producers. Currently, the Cabinet of Ministers and the National Bank have priority for gold purchases.

According to the deputy chairman, subsidizing this amount will allow jewelry companies to purchase gold at a more affordable price with the option of an installment plan, manufacture the products, sell them, and pay for the raw materials with the proceeds. The deputy chairman also added that Kyrgyzstan plans to establish a jewelry analysis and testing laboratory at Manas Airport. This will simplify procedures for importers, reduce logistics costs, and improve transportation safety.
